Walk through any Gambian market and you'll hear moringa called a hundred things — nebedaye, the miracle tree, "never die." For Kura's Garden, based in Sotokoi village in the West Coast Region, it's simply the crop they've built a business around — and the reason The Gambia now has a homegrown organic superfood brand.
From a village garden to certified organic
Kura's Garden is the country's largest producer of certified-organic moringa, with its organic status recognised internationally. That certification is rare in The Gambia, and it matters: it means the moringa powder, oil and tea are grown and processed without synthetic chemicals, to a standard buyers abroad recognise.
What they make
The range runs from organic moringa powder (a spoon into porridge, smoothies or sauce) and moringa oil for skin and hair, to moringa and lemongrass teas, papaya jam, lime juice and a pepper sauce with real heat. Every product leans on what grows well in Gambian soil.
